Founder and president of CGPR, Chris Ann Goddard laid the foundation for her career in PR by spending six years in Washington, D.C. as a lobbyist for Mayor Edward I. Koch, the National Association of Counties and Friends of the Earth, in addition to serving under President Carter in Congressional Liaison.

After a period of working for large corporations, Chris decided that she wanted to open her own PR firm to focus on the companies and products about which she felt most passionate, and it shows. The transition into consumer PR was a natural one, after being groomed by lobbying to quickly pitch an idea and get government officials on board. She employs similar tactics to engage a blogger, an editor, or producer with her client’s campaigns and offerings.

Chris has built the agency up from its infancy 17 years ago, to its position today as a leader in the consumer product, outdoor, and wintersport categories. Her expertise has been quoted in online and print outlets including SNEWS, The New York Times, and USA Today, and she earned the nationally coveted Silver Anvil award for her travel work with British Airways. Perhaps the strongest testament to CGPR’s success is the 15-year partnership forged with Merrell, the agency’s first client.

When she’s not energetically juggling every detail of running her agency, you can often find Chris sailing or road cycling in the summertime with her husband and their three Labradors Dijon, Chloe, and Noel, their French-themed names a reminder of the couple’s time spent courting while living in France. In the winter, the family takes on downhill and cross-country skiing, but if all else fails, at least once a day you can be sure to find her laughing at her favorite viral video, the rollerblading Evian babies.
